So many goodies in here! Thanks for putting it all together and sharing with us. A stomach virus got me this week, likely Norovirus. Appreciating the simplicity of yogurt and bananas : ) Good health to us all!

Thanks dear Maia! I hope you are enjoying winter in New Mexico. I bet it is so beautiful during this season. Thanks for reading. It's hard to keep up with reading. There is so much amazing stuff to read out there.

Norovirus is the worst. My deepest sympathies. I would take what I had over GI illness any day. I think I had RSV but did not test. I love yogurt and bananas. I hope your gut flora is slowing returning to baseline. Our microbiota is like a unique fingerprint which I think its cool in a nerdy way.

RSV, norovirus and influenza are circulating. Our lovely winter triad/collection. More reason to winter in!

Wishing you a year of peace and solace.

Really glad I got vaccines for RSV, flu, and COVID a month or two back! And yes, really trying to nurture that gut flora these days!

It is my view, not as a medical person or health scientist--but as someone attuned to my body and observer of the natural world--that stress is one of the major reasons for many of our human illnesses. Stress affects us both directly and indirectly.

Now, here is another observation worth discussing. The stress that we humans feel is far different that what non-human animals feel. Theirs is primarily of danger from predators; ours is from so many societal sources and expectations. Humans might be the most stressed species, and most of it is a result of our dominant competitive civilization, which is an unhealthy way to live in our biosphere called Earth. Happy New Year; may 2025 be a year of less stress, love and good health.

Thanks for reading and commenting! It does seem like there are different types of human stress compared to our relatives in the "natural" world. I love how they shake out the stress from their bodies- something I started to do.

It seems that human and other mammalian brains share many similarities too. Is this because of global reductions in human higher cognition/critical thinking. Is that an anthropocentric view? Maybe we can take a page from other counterparts. I am particularly interested in plant/moss/fern wisdom.

A tsunami of stressful digital stimuli (and other factors) contributes to malfunctioning of our human brains. Our reptilian and primitive parts seem hypertrophied due to fear/maldapation leaving little room for growth of new neural pathways. Disturbing our adaptability/survivability.

May you have peace in 2025. May we all turn towards improved brain and body health, nature, and collaboration over competition.

I always love Rumi and ancient wisdom seekers/bearers, but if you're looking for the truth of our myriad "stress diseases", none of which are found in migratory Hunter-Gatherers/pastoralists, then download and read the free online e-book PDF, "Stress R Us". Wealthy, well travelled physicians may not be the ones to show us the path to enlightenment, or old retired psychiatrists living on SS, but both deserve credit for trying. Namaste'

There is no but after Rumi.

Who is trying to enlighten who here?

I am merely sharing pictures, stories of my heart, and tips for winter viruses.

Thanks for reading. Happy new year!

Viruses have never been shown to be the cause of illness. A virus has never been taken from a sick man, isolated, and proven to be the cause of the sickness. Viruses as an agent of illness are purely hypothetical. No viruses, the whole vaccine narrative false apart. Illness is caused by parasites. Treat the parasites, kill them, and health returns.

This comment is like telling a botanist that plants do not exist. I study all microbiological pathogens.

All comments and perspectives are welcome. Thanks for reading. Happy new year.

I mean it is all so confusing- the varieties of perspectives out there. I have no words for it.

Thanks for reading! I know that you can bow down to these microbes with me, doc. Thanks for teaching me.

Wishing you a year filled with peace!
